Schumer Torches Rick Scott’s Obamacare Plan Over Fraud Scandal

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer reportedly mocked Senator Rick Scott’s new health care proposal, highlighting Scott’s past role at Columbia/HCA during a record-setting fraud case.

Scott, who served as CEO until 1997, oversaw the company when it allegedly engaged in widespread Medicare and Medicaid billing fraud, leading to a $1.7 billion settlement in 2003, the largest of its kind at the time.

The company reportedly pleaded guilty to 14 felonies, though Scott himself faced no criminal charges and has long denied any knowledge of wrongdoing.

Scott’s recent plan would reportedly shift enhanced ACA subsidies into personal Trump Health Freedom Accounts, allowing consumers to spend on premiums or care while keeping preexisting condition protections intact.
