Randy Fine Sworn In as Florida 6th District Rep

Randy Fine took the oath of office today and is now the U.S. Congressman for Florida’s 6th District. This follows his victory in a special election held on April 1 2025 to replace Michael Waltz who stepped down to serve as President Trump’s national security advisor. The swearing-in ceremony on the House floor marks a new chapter for the outspoken Republican known for his strong conservative stance.

Fine’s journey to Congress began with a decisive win in the Republican primary on January 28 2025. He defeated Aaron Baker and Ehsan Joarder with over 82 percent of the vote showcasing his strong support among GOP voters. President Trump endorsed Fine early on calling him a true patriot which boosted his campaign.

In the general election Fine faced Democrat Josh Weil who raised nearly 10 million dollars compared to Fine’s 1 million. Despite being outspent Fine secured 56.7 percent of the vote winning all six counties in the district. This victory in a reliably red area reaffirmed Republican dominance and Trump’s influence in Florida politics.

Fine brings a wealth of experience from his time in the Florida legislature where he served since 2016. He spent eight years in the state House before a brief stint in the Senate starting November 2024 which he resigned from on March 31 2025 due to Florida’s resign-to-run law. His legislative record includes pushing for tougher penalties on illegal sewage dumping and opposing wasteful spending.

The new congressman is no stranger to controversy having been fined for ethics violations in 2023 and held in contempt of court in 2024. Critics point to his brash style like when he made an obscene gesture during a virtual hearing over an election dispute. Supporters argue his boldness is what makes him effective in fighting for conservative values.

Fine’s district spans six counties along Florida’s east coast from Daytona Beach to just south of St. Augustine. It has long been a Republican stronghold with Trump carrying it by 30 points in the 2024 election. Fine has pledged to focus on securing borders and boosting the economy while representing the area’s interests in Washington.

As one of only three Jewish Republicans in the House Fine is expected to be a vocal advocate for Israel. His nickname Hebrew Hammer reflects his reputation for sharp rhetoric and quick thinking honed during years in Tallahassee. Colleagues predict he will take on progressive figures like Ilhan Omar with the same tenacity he showed in state politics.

With Republicans holding a slim majority in the House Fine’s arrival strengthens their position. He joins David Kustoff of Tennessee and Max Miller of Ohio as the third Jewish GOP member in the chamber. His swearing-in today sets the stage for a high-profile tenure as he aims to deliver on promises made during his hard-fought campaign.
