Border Encounters Drop to Historic Low
Border Czar Tom Homan announced that daily border encounters have plummeted to an unprecedented low of 229 people in the last 24 hours marking the lowest number he has witnessed since joining the Border Patrol in 1984. This dramatic decrease from peaks over 11000 daily encounters signals a potential shift in border control effectiveness.
Tom Homan expressed his astonishment at the figures stating that in his long career he had never seen such low numbers. The drop from over 11000 encounters a day during the previous administration to just 229 represents a stark contrast.
This reduction is attributed to several new policies and enforcement strategies implemented under Homan’s supervision. Stricter border security measures and increased cooperation with neighboring countries have reportedly played key roles.
Critics however caution that these numbers might only reflect a temporary lull or could be influenced by seasonal migration trends. They argue for sustained vigilance and comprehensive immigration reform to maintain this level of control.
Homan emphasized that no illegal immigrant is exempt from potential enforcement action stating “If you’re in this country illegally it’s not okay.” His approach focuses on a broad enforcement strategy targeting all illegal entries not just criminal elements.
The administration has also been bolstering its legal framework for deportation which many conservative voices argue is a necessary step to uphold the rule of law at the borders.
While the low encounter numbers are celebrated by some as a success in curbing illegal immigration others highlight the human cost including the plight of those turned away at the border.
Homan insists that these numbers are a testament to the effectiveness of current policies but acknowledges that continued effort is needed to ensure long-term security at the border.
