The Context

Two floating cranes, Hebo Lift 2 and Hebo Lift 10, are deployed. The latter is among Europe’s most powerful maritime cranes.

The yacht sank on August 19, 2024, during a violent storm. Seven people, including Lynch and his daughter, perished.

The operation, overseen by the Italian coast guard, may take 20–25 days. Preparations include cutting the yacht’s 75-meter mast to ease recovery.

About 70 specialists from Dutch and Italian firms are involved. They use remotely operated vehicles for underwater inspections.

The wreck’s retrieval is critical for an ongoing investigation. Prosecutors are examining potential crew negligence in the sinking.

Recovery efforts paused briefly after a diver’s death in May. Operations resumed despite challenging weather conditions.
