Babysitter Discovers Intruder Under Child’s Bed After ‘Monster’ Complaint
In Great Bend Kansas a babysitter checking under a child’s bed for “monsters” discovered a man hiding beneath. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when the babysitter was preparing the children for bed and one child expressed fear of a monster under the bed.
Upon investigation the babysitter found Martin Villalobos Jr. 27 who had previously lived in the residence but was subject to a protection from abuse order prohibiting his presence there. A confrontation ensued during which one child was knocked over and Villalobos fled the scene.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the disturbance call but was unable to locate Villalobos that night. A search was initiated to apprehend the suspect given the potential danger he posed to the household.
The following morning law enforcement officers spotted Villalobos who attempted to escape but was captured after a brief foot chase. He was taken into custody without bond and faces charges including aggravated burglary aggravated battery and child endangerment.
Villalobos had prior charges of criminal threat domestic battery and violating the protective order indicating a history of legal issues and raising concerns about the enforcement of protective measures.
